Aerial dance and multimedia

About
I am an aerial dance and multimedia artist with a professional background in technical theater, sound engineering, and critical pedagogy. My work examines how technology mediates our perceptions of self and other. I have been performing with Airbound Underground in Olympia, WA since 2018.I choreograph and perform impassioned, lyrical, surreal, and often absurd or horrific aerial pieces. My background in musical performance and composition allows me to create rhythmic, moving, emotionally-charged dance pieces in the air.Aerial is a dance of technological co-dependency and the precarity that comes from that. When we climb a rope and wrap it around us or wrap ourselves around it, we are enacting a powerful metaphor for that struggle. When two or more aerialists dance together, the aerial apparatus defines how they are able to connect.Through my work and through how I work, I want to show how we can to come together in spite of existing in increasingly fragmented communities and siloed worlds of perception. To learn about my most recent aerial dance and multimedia performance project, head to www.surveillanceshow.com or click "the show" below.
